Conventional Medicine Verses Alternative Medicine
This is not a contest, a race, an election or any other type of competition. Conventional Medicine and Alternative Medicine have their places and most times they can work well together. As time progresses, conventional medicine has even begun to “preventative medicine” in some areas. Traditional M.D.s are telling their patients who have a heart condition or family history of such a condition that they should take omega 3 fish oil. Niacin (B vitamin) is even prescribed for high cholesterol in cases where other medications are not tolerated by the individual.
Perhaps some day, off into the future, alternative physicians and conventional physicians will work together, in a complimentary manner, for the good of the patient. In fact, there are, no doubt, such health care professionals doing just that right now. However, they are far and few between. Until it becomes more commonplace perhaps the rest of us should work at remaining open to possibilities on both sides of the health care spectrum. What ever retains or brings a person back to a healthful condition should be used.
Future articles on Gentle Care will encompass many alternative treatments. However, we will also explore ways in which alternative medicine might be used along with conventional medicine. We will report on new studies and their results in this area as well as look at some alternative treatments that are not so well known. And we will always, always urge you to consult with your health care professional before taking on any new treatments.
