How to Lower Cholesterol Naturally
One of the biggest health risks, according to conventional medicine, is an over abundance of LDL, “bad” cholesterol, in your bloodstream. We’ve all see the drug commercials on TV that show it building up until it completely blocks the artery. If your health care professional is warning you that you are on the verge of needing to take a drug to lower your serum cholesterol (total cholesterol), consider trying to make a natural change now. Perhaps your next checkup will show a lower cholesterol count and you won’t need those drugs after all.
Two new studies have shown the benefits of two natural substances in lowering cholesterol. Research done at the University of Reading in the U.K. with artichoke leaf extract has shown cholesterol lowered a significant amount with its use. A high antioxidant was found in the leaf and this is believed to be the reason for the results. In the study, 75 people 1280mg (4 capsules) of the artichoke leaf extract or a placebo. After 12 weeks the individuals taking the extract had significantly lower cholesterol levels.
A new study in the American Journal of Cardiology has reported that red yeast extract contains monacolins, which prohibit cholesterol production. In fact, the article goes further to say that a second heart attack can be reduced by 45% with the ingestion of 2,000mg red yeast extract two times a day with meals.
Please always consult with your health care professional before taking on any new alternative or conventional treatments.
