Birch - the Aspirin Tree
Both the bark and leaves of the birch tree are used for alternative healing purposes. Birch tea is often the form used. It contains salicylate which is the aspirin compound. Although, aspirin today is a most often a chemical based product, originally it was made from birch. It is a pain reliever as well as an anti-inflammatory.
Gout: is a form of arthritis, a very painful one. Although any joint can be infected, mostly the big toe is the point of this condition. Use birch as an infusion for the area affected.
Eczema: the oil of birch is effective in this skin condition. The oil is very potent and should always be diluted with another organic oil.
Bladder Infections: birch tea is powerful for this condition as a tea and can dissolve kidney and bladder stones. The kidneys and urinary tract can be helped because of the ability of birch to kill harmful bacteria.
Other conditions benefited by birch tea are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and general muscle pain.
Where can one get birch tree products? Do you just pick the leaces off the tree ans make tea with them?
Thanks
